- Methane gas is 20 times more damaging to the environment than CO2 and traps 23 times as much heat in the atmosphere as the same amount of CO2.
- Composting reduces methane gas by keeping food and yard waste out of the landfill.
- Compost improves the environment by adding organic matter, microbes, nutrients and minerals to our soil.
- Healthy soil reduces water and air pollutants, run-off and erosion.
- Healthy soil also reduces the need for chemical fertilizers that pollute groundwater, rivers and streams.
